I believe that all human beings have the potential to live productive lives. Unfortunately some may feel that happiness and self actualization is beyond their control. My role is to provide a trusting, nonjudgmental environment that will facilitate the process of reorganization of each individual's perceptions and transformation to a new sense of self.

To help achieve emotional tranquility and peace of mind I utilize various approaches and perspectives. Though I use a Client Centered and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) the majority of the time, I may integrate other techniques and tools such as Neurofeedback and EMDR as a method of therapy.

I utilize Neurofeedback in my practice. Neurofeedback training uses the power of modern computers to capture and analyze brainwave activity, and then turn it into useful information to feedback to your brain about its own functioning. Neurofeedback training has helped people with PTSD, Anxiety, Sleeping Disorders and ADD/ADHD.

ann-marie miglionico, lcsw

Owner of Tranquil Waters Counseling. Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Specialty: EMDR, geriatrics

Her patients often enjoy the ability to be heard without judgement or interruption, when they want to share details of events that cause them to experience the emotions they are feeling.  They often need an outlet as they process what they are feeling and I provide that in a safe environment.  She guides the sessions to help encourage the development of solutions when my patient is in that place emotionally, and ready for a positive change.  Patients often find relief of their symptoms when they feel validated in how they are feeling, and supported as they learn how to cope with various situations that arise, sometimes related to past trauma which often adds more emotions to the mix.

She has worked with patients for about 18 years in various roles: DCF Child Investigations, Foster Care Placement of Children, and now as a Trauma Informed Social Worker.  I am certified and trained as an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Clinician, Foster and Adoption Competent, and trained in Couples Counseling using the Prepare/Enrich Model.  Her Master’s Degree is from the University of Central Florida of Social Work Program (Go Knights!).
